The Museum is housed in Lady Stair’s House, a splendid mansion built in 1622 and named for an early owner, Elizabeth, Dowager Countess of Stair. In 1907, the building was given to the City of Edinburgh with the intention of being altered.
The Writers Museum
The Writers’ Museum pays tribute to three of Scotland’s greatest writers: Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns, and Robert Louis Stevenson.
